Based on the views of employees from company surveys throughout the region, Premier Medical Associates has been recognized as one of the Top Workplaces in Pittsburgh for 2012 by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

With a culture focused on driving change by reducing the cost of high quality healthcare, the rapidly growing company has more than 300 employees and seventy providers who touch the lives of more than 100,000 patients. Formed in 1993, Premier Medical Associates is the largest multi-specialty practice in the Greater Pittsburgh area.

“At Premier, we have created a model that offers the highest quality care at the lowest possible costs,” explained Mark DeRubeis, CEO of Premier Medical Associates. “Our culture is driven by doctors and staff -- at every level of our organization -- who are deeply committed to the hard work that true change in healthcare requires. This recognition is a tremendous honor for our team.“

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Top Workplaces award is based on employee surveys that were conducted at each participating company by research partner, WorkplaceDynamics. According to the results, the 85 winning companies rank at the top in categories such as company leadership, career opportunities, work flexibility, compensation and benefits.

With business decisions made by the people who deliver the care, Premier’s model includes a focus on prevention and a division of labor that is focused on patient care rather than profit. The company has maintained a steadfast commitment to employing the principals of Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and is one of only a few practices nationwide that is currently on the path to receive Level III accreditation for 2013 from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. The team at Premier is also deeply committed to the hard work behind true meaningful use of electronic health records (EHR).

As one example of the model’s success, Premier has shown proven results with their diabetic patients, who are 48% less likely than the national average to be admitted to the hospital.

Nominations for recognition as a Post-Gazette Top Workplace are open to all employers with at least 50 workers in the greater Pittsburgh region. There is no cost to participate, and every organization that takes part receives feedback on its workplace.

Formed in 1993, Premier Medical Associates has a team of over seventy providers in ten convenient locations offering specialties that include: asthma/allergy/immunology, behavioral health, cardiology, family medicine, gastroenterology, general and breast surgery, hospitalists, internal medicine, neurology, orthopedics, pediatrics, podiatry, radiology and sleep medicine.
