Predixion Software and Montefiore Medical Center Collaborating on Breakthrough Healthcare Predictive Analytics Solutions

Using Predixion Insight™ Montefiore's Clinical Looking Glass® analyzes massive amounts of electronic health records data to help reduce patient readmissions and healthcare costs

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Predixion Software, a provider of collaborative predictive analytics solutions fully integrated with Microsoft Corp.'s business intelligence (BI) platform, today announced an exploratory project with the development team of Clinical Looking Glass®, software developed at Montefiore Medical Center, with the goals of leveraging predictive models that help reduce patient readmissions and healthcare costs. The announcement was made at the Business Intelligence & Analytics for Healthcare Conference & Exhibition where Predixion Software is exhibiting in booth #11.

In this exploratory project, Clinical Looking Glass is used to extract inpatient cohorts and predictive variables with clinical and temporal subtlety for both prediction model discovery and prospective model application using Predixion Insight™ for Excel®, Predixion Software's flagship self-service predictive analytics software. Clinical Looking Glass empowers clinicians and healthcare managers to build patient cohorts and to conduct comparative effectiveness studies quickly and iteratively without involving IT teams or statisticians. With its patented, temporally sophisticated analytics Clinical Looking Glass makes it possible for over 350 users at Montefiore to track patient care and the efficiencies of a healthcare system through all stages of medical treatments, hospital visits, laboratory services, rehabilitation and any other aspect of the continuum using their own clinical intuition and applying their own rules of analysis. More information on Clinical Looking Glass can be found at http://ExploreCLG.Montefiore.org.

Dr. Michael Mercy Joins Predixion Advisory Board

Predixion also announced that Dr. Michael Mercy, M.D., a noted physician who attended medical school and trained in Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins, has joined the company's Advisory Board and will serve as Healthcare Solutions Advisor. Dr. Mercy is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Executives (FAAPE) as well as a Fellow of American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP) and consults across the country in performance improvement for systems of medical care as well as trauma care and treatment of substance abuse. In addition to his advisory and consulting roles, Dr. Mercy also maintains an active practice in Emergency Medicine in his home state of Idaho.

To showcase the Predixion Software and Montefiore Medical Center collaboration, Dr. Mercy will co-present a case study with David Fletcher, Montefiore Medical Center Director of CLG Product Development, entitled Predictive Analytics for Proactive Quality Management at the Business Intelligence & Analytics for Healthcare Conference today at 4:30 p.m. PT. Dr. Mercy and Fletcher will discuss how new healthcare reporting regulations are fueling an explosive demand for performance measurement and how improving scores on quality metrics requires a proactive, here-and-now strategy that looks beyond historic performance.

“We must focus resources on patients who are likely to experience negative outcomes but haven’t yet, to avoid sicker patients and reduced payments,” Dr. Mercy said. “Using real clinical data from Montefiore Medical Center we will show how the development of predictive models could help identify patients with a high likelihood of negative outcomes,” he said. “The goal is to discover, in real time, the profile of such patients before the negative outcome occurs, and this talk will detail our compelling work in this area.”

“Ongoing performance improvement efforts required to make hospitals and clinics run more efficiently and provide better patient care is a data driven process and therefore requires the ability to quickly analyze that data, both retrospectively and prospectively,” Dr. Mercy added. “This collaborative project between Predixion and Montefiore goes a long way in helping achieve that objective.”
