Philips to buy Witt Biomedical

Philips will pay $165 million to acquire Witt Biomedical, a supplier of hemodynamic monitoring and clinical reporting technology for cath labs. The move is the latest in a series by Philips, which has bought several medical device companies in the past year, including Stentor. Witt will be integrated into the Cardiovascular X-ray business unit of the Medical Systems Division. Last year the company did $49 million in sales.
