Pfizer sued over off-label use of Lipitor

In a move likely to be noticed, the Teamsters filed a lawsuit against Pfizer over off-label sales of Lipitor, alleging the pharmaceutical company illegally promoted the drug for purposes other than that for which it was approved. The suit requests class-action status and notes that the government Medicare and Medicaid were both hurt by the company's marketing strategy. Lipitor is the world's best selling drug, with annual sales of $13 billion.
