PMWC 2012 will gather top leaders from academia, business, government and healthcare sectors to chart the path forward based on lessons learned in the early development of Personalized Medicine
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Personalized Medicine World Conference (PMWC) 2012 — The Personalized Medicine World Conference, PMWC 2012, to be held on January 23-24 in Silicon Valley, is a two-day business and educational conference that provides real-world insights on how to succeed in producing and implementing Personalized Medicine. PMWC 2012 is co-hosted by Stanford Hospital & Clinics.
PMWC 2012 is the only fully integrated conference to examine through a practical lens the advances and challenges facing Personalized Medicine. Brian Druker, MD, whose work and persistence resulted in Gleevec as one of the first triumphs of Personalized Medicine, will be honored.
Other featured speakers are the FDA’s Director of the Personalized Medicine Staff, Elizabeth Mansfield, PhD, Michael Phelps, PhD, Inventor of the PET scan and Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Technology Evaluation Center’s (TEC) Executive Director, Naomi Aronson, PhD.
Ralph Snyderman, MD, James B. Duke Professor of Medicine in the Duke University School of Medicine, will chair “Into the Clinic.” Speakers in the session will share their experience in developing and practicing Personalized Medicine when lives hang in the balance.
“The promise of personalized health care was spurred by genomic advances over a decade ago but the adoption of new technologies and concepts into practice is just now gaining traction. The transformation of health care through personalization requires new models of care delivery. The “Into the Clinic” session gives concrete examples of how personalized medicine is emerging as a new approach to care. We want PMWC attendees to take away new insights that are applicable to their own challenges, whether they are researchers and clinicians, entrepreneurs or investors,” said Snyderman.
Other PMWC 2012 sessions include: Emerging Technologies, Rx/Dx Opportunities, Regulatory Myths & Facts, NextGen Health IT, and Economics: Payer Perspectives.
