Patient data accidentally posted online

Officials at Ohio State University Medical Center admitted that personal data for about 2,800 patients was accidentally posted on the school's Web site. The data included names, addresses, phone numbers and social security numbers. The mistake was not discovered until three weeks ago, when somebody surfing the Internet discovered the error and contacted the hospital. Ohio State has apologized and says it has notified all patients involved. The hospital says it will pay for a credit monitoring service to ensure that the data loss does not lead to fraudulent activity.
