Partners HeatlhCare, state reach deal to allow acquisitions

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley and Partners HealthCare System reached a deal to allow the system to acquire South Shore Hospital and two hospitals operated by Hallmark Health, but limit its ability to increase costs and expand over the next 10 years. The Boston Globe reports that the agreement, approved this week, will end years of investigations by state regulators regarding the non-for-profit chain's business practices.
