Parkway Medical Center/ Hartselle Medical Center Transition

9-1-10 MEDIA STATEMENT The following statement was released jointly this morning by: Tim McGill, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Parkway and Hartselle Medical Centers, and Mark Medley, President, American Division of Capella Healthcare, with which Parkway and Hartselle medical centers are affiliated. "Hartselle Medical Center and Parkway Medical Center have been sister hospitals for many years. Serving a similar region, we have always looked for ways the two hospitals could work more closely together to improve the healthcare delivery system in Morgan County. With healthcare reform now compelling hospitals to operate smarter and even more efficiently, working together is more vital than ever. "Today, Parkway and Hartselle Medical Centers announced we will be moving to a ‘system approach’ to management. This will allow both hospitals to more closely share the essential resources required to operate a hospital, leveraging our combined size and strength to make both facilities stronger for this new era in healthcare. "Under this system approach, Tim McGill and Danny Crowe will serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), respectively, for both hospitals. Because quality continues to be our #1 priority, each hospital will continue to have its own Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Mitzi Pouncey will continue her role as CNO at Hartselle. Linda Easterly, officially starting in her new role on September 20, will be the new CNO at Parkway. "Butch Naylor, who has done an excellent job as CEO at Hartselle over the past year, will remain at Hartselle over the next 90 days to help us through this transitional period. Rodney VanDonkelaar, who has served as Hartselle’s CFO since 2008, recently accepted a promotion, moving to sister hospital Grandview Medical Center in Jasper, TN, as CFO. "As a team, this group of administrators will closely collaborate to identify ways to be more efficient in hospital support services, improve processes for delivering care, grow key services, and recruit needed physicians to Morgan County."
