Paragon® Hospital Information System Rated Best in KLAS® Community HIS Six Years in a Row

Fully integrated solution contends at No. 2 spot in overall software suite rankings

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- McKesson’s Paragon® hospital information system (HIS) has once again earned Best in KLAS® for Community HIS in the 2011 Best in KLAS Awards: Software & Professional Services report. This is the sixth consecutive year that the solution has earned this top distinction, giving it the most repeat Best in KLAS honors in its category. The report also rates Paragon No. 2 in overall software suite rankings, which includes only companies with a minimum of three separate products that meet minimum KLAS Konfidence level in three separate market segments. With its contemporary, Microsoft®-based platform, Paragon’s HIS is uniquely designed to fully integrate patient data and revenue cycle information using a single system.

“We’re not surprised that the Paragon HIS was honored with the Best in KLAS distinction again this year and is No. 2 overall,” said Tim McCarty, CIO, OakBend Medical Center. “The fact that more than 90% of survey respondents said they would buy the solution again is impressive and reflects our experience with Paragon’s commitment to customer service.”

With its integrated clinical and financial database, Paragon is a contemporary solution designed to meet the needs of hospitals of various sizes, while offering a low total cost of ownership. Built on a Microsoft® Windows-based platform, it provides an electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the solution suite. With its single database, Paragon requires minimal hardware and fewer IT resources to support the system. In recent years, McKesson has achieved significant growth in the size and complexity of the customers served by the Paragon platform.

“We are successful when our customers are successful in quickly and cost-effectively leveraging our solutions to meet their strategic objectives,” said Jim Pesce, president of Paragon, McKesson Provider Technologies. “At McKesson, we believe in listening to the needs of customers, investing in innovation and delivering value in a way that will meet the increasingly diverse needs of hospitals and health systems.”

The annual KLAS rankings are based on interviews with healthcare executives, managers and clinicians at more than 4,500 hospitals and 2,500 clinics. Measuring performance in product quality, implementation and support, the Best in KLAS honor recognizes leadership in delivering excellence in customer service.
