According to Barron, self-pay is predicted to increase 20 percent to 40 percent over the coming year with the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. “Hospitals must become more proactive in identifying what has caused bad debt, and embrace the simple steps that can change this constantly growing number.
