Novation Hosts First Annual Innovative Technology Supplier Expo

Innovative technology offerings enhance patient and provider safety

IRVING, Texas, Oct. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Novation, leading health care supply chain expertise and contracting company for the members of VHA Inc., UHC, Children's Hospital Association, and Provista LLC, today hosts its first annual Innovative Technology Supplier Expo in Irving, Texas.

Forty-eight suppliers chose to showcase their technologies at the Expo, and more than sixty clinicians and hospital members chose to attend.  To qualify as a participating supplier in the Expo, the supplier must either have a currently awarded Innovative Technology agreement with Novation or the supplier must have submitted a product into the Innovative Technology program for review by July 15, 2012.

Novation's Innovative Technology Program allows Novation to work with member-led councils and task forces to identify and review potentially innovative technology.  Once these teams have evaluated the technology and determined that it provides an incremental clinical benefit over existing products, a contract for the innovative technology may be awarded outside of Novation's competitive bid cycle. Any supplier is free to submit its technology for review under Novation's Innovative Technology program.

"So many exciting innovations are happening across the health care industry," says Debbie Archer, director, procurement and innovative technology, Novation.  "And we are committed to continually enhancing patient and provider safety and outcomes for the hospital members we serve."

"The Innovative Technology Supplier Expo provides an opportunity for suppliers of all sizes to showcase their innovative medical technology products and gather feedback from key clinicians," continues Archer.  "Suppliers participating in the Expo have the opportunity to receive greater visibility as an innovator in medical technology, educate expo participants about their product, and enjoy substantive dialog with member clinical experts and Novation contracting staff."

The goal of Novation's Innovative Technology Program is to work with members to identify innovative technology that improves patient care or reduces the risk of harm to patients or providers, while simultaneously raising the standard of patient care and safety.  Since 2003, more than 500 new and innovative technologies have been reviewed through Novation's Innovative Technology Program.
