MOUNT LAUREL, N.J., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Karrie Fairbrother, BSN, RN, CDE, DNC, has been named president of the Dermatology Nurses' Association (DNA), a national professional nursing organization dedicated to promoting excellence in dermatologic care.
In her new role as president, Fairbrother, a nurse educator at St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, Montana, will work to increase the visibility of the DNA as an organization committed to quality dermatologic care through the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
"It is my goal to ensure that policy makers, health care providers and the general public will recognize DNA and the outstanding contribution that dermatology professionals make to health care," said Fairbrother, who previously served on DNA's Board of Directors, as president of the Big Sky Chapter of DNA and as Awards Committee chairperson for the organization.
She is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a bachelor of science in nursing. Fairbrother performed her nurse's training at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Nursing. She received her Dermatology Nursing Certification in 1999 at the DNA Conference in New Orleans, and has continued her education in her specialty. A Certified Diabetes Educator and an experienced community health advocate and speaker, she has presented at numerous workshops and symposia and has appeared on radio and television segments about skin cancer prevention, diabetes, wellness and other health topics.
Fairbrother is passionate about DNA and her profession as a dermatology nurse, and is committed to educating patients about skin cancer prevention and early detection.
