Morgan Keegan Promotes Laca Wong-Hammond to Head Healthcare Investment Banking’s Real Estate Practice

MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc. announced that Laca Wong-Hammond has been appointed to lead the real estate practice of the firm’s Healthcare Investment Banking group.

Wong-Hammond will focus on serving public and private owners and operators of healthcare real estate, including not-for-profit hospitals and health systems, senior living and nursing care companies, developers, pension funds, and private equity organizations among others. In addition, she will coordinate with Morgan Keegan’s Real Estate Investment Banking effort in its ongoing coverage of healthcare REITs. Wong-Hammond’s real estate transaction experience will be applied to an array of advisory services, including mergers and acquisitions, monetization of assets, capital raising of debt and equity, joint venture formation, developer selection, and strategic options assessment.

Wong-Hammond joined Morgan Keegan in 2006 with the acquisition of Shattuck Hammond Partners. She has more than twelve years of real estate experience, including six years dedicated to healthcare real estate. Before joining Shattuck Hammond, she was a vice president at Merrill Lynch, responsible for the internal corporate finance group's real estate, investor relations and rating agency affairs. Prior to that, Wong-Hammond raised capital and managed investor relations for iStar Financial, a publicly-traded REIT. Her career began at JP Morgan's Real Estate and Lodging Investment Banking group.

A graduate with honors in communications from Cornell University, Wong-Hammond also studied at the London School of Economics. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees at Chen Dance Center, a not-for-profit performing arts school, theatre and dance company located in lower Manhattan.
