The Midwest Reprocessing Center Opens its Doors to Reduce Costs to Regional Hospitals through Medical Device Reprocessing

SAGINAW, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Midwest Reprocessing Center™ (MRC) announced today the opening of its new state-of-the-art FDA-registered facility for the reprocessing of non-invasive Single-Use medical Devices (SUDs) such as compression sleeves, blood pressure cuffs and pulse oximeters. MRC’s processes, which have been cleared by the FDA, help hospitals cut their supplies’ costs by 30-40%, reduce the negative impact on landfill waste, and deliver devices that are just as safe as new ones.

The only reprocessor dedicated to serving the Midwest states of Michigan, Indiana and Ohio exclusively, MRC will pick up SUDs, reprocess them, and return them to healthcare facilities that wish to have a positive impact on the environment and their bottom line. More importantly, reprocessed devices have been shown to be as safe to patients as new devices. MRC’s reprocessing protocols have been safely used for over 10 years on patients around the country.

“MRC’s purpose is to help all Midwest hospitals lower their supplies’ costs and minimize environmental impact,” said Christophe Sevrain, a medical device expert for over 25 years. “By reprocessing medical devices that are otherwise needlessly thrown away, tons of landfill wastes are avoided each year, and healthcare facilities can save a lot of expenses – and all of this without jeopardizing patients’ safety. It just doesn’t get much better than that.”

Even when a hospital is not interested in reprocessing, MRC will still repurchase these opened or used devices from these facilities so that they can be recycled and re-used for future use.

MRC works with different departments at hospitals, making it a smooth, effortless task for hospital staff to reprocess opened and used devices. It is also common for hospitals to work with more than one reprocessor, as different companies offer different devices and have different pricing structures.

“A Midwest company exclusively serving Midwest hospitals allows MRC to be responsive to the unique needs of a region it knows best, resulting in the best healthcare and bottom line for its customers, in an environment where healthcare cost reductions are a must,” Sevrain said.
