The continued growth in the global orthopedic market is due to a number of factors, including the aging population, the increase of orthopedic surgery at an earlier age, physiological problems due to the increasing incidence of obesity, the development of better and longer-lasting implants and materials, as well as new procedures, in particular, minimally invasive procedures.*
Bone grafting materials are used to fill defects caused by trauma or surgical removal. The OsteoXpress Graft Delivery Device enables the surgical team to thoroughly and efficiently hydrate these materials for use in the operating room.
“We are pleased to be able to offer surgical teams throughout the world a simple, efficient and cost-effective tool for preparing bone graft materials,” according to Micromedics General Manager Lise Duran.
Target markets for the OsteoXpress Graft Delivery Device include spine, orthopedic, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, and orthobiologics companies selling in those specialty areas.
Micromedics, Inc. also offers a line of biomaterial applicators marketed under the name FibriJet® which include single and dual syringe applicators modified with interchangeable tips for the particular needs of specific surgical procedures. The products enable the delivery of one or two liquids, in parallel or mixed to a wound site with simple, one-handed operation. The products are sold to a wide variety of end customers, including distributors, surgeons, OEMs, hospitals and surgery centers.
Micromedics, Inc. is an affiliate of Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN), one of the world’s leading producers of precision dispensing equipment that applies adhesives, sealants, liquid and powder coatings and other materials to a broad range of consumer and industrial products during manufacturing operations.
