TACOMA, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sound Physicians, a leading hospitalist organization focused on driving improvements in quality, satisfaction and financial performance of inpatient healthcare delivery, today announced the appointment of Michael Radzienda, MD, SFHM, as the organization’s new CMO for its Midwest region. Dr. Radzienda will also serve Sound Physicians’ Northeast region practices.
As chief medical officer, Dr. Radzienda will provide regional organizational leadership for Sound Physicians hospitalist practices in the Midwest and Northeast regions, leading clinical operations and hospitalist program development activities. In his role, Radzienda will work directly with the hospital partners and hospitalists to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and the alignment of performance with partner hospital goals.
Radzienda comes to Sound Physicians with a wealth of experience as a hospital medicine leader, having most recently served as vice president for hospital medicine and clinical effectiveness at Vanguard Health Systems, a 25-facility, for-profit hospital management corporation with more than 20,000 employees.
In addition to being an accomplished leader, Radzienda brings practical experience of designing and managing large-scale academic and community hospitalist programs, including a first-in-nation cardiac hospitalist program at an academic medical center. As much of his career has been focused on hospital quality improvement and systems engineering, he brings inherent strengths on how to drive performance results in the acute care setting.
Radzienda is recognized as a Senior Fellow in the Society of Hospital Medicine and serves on that organization’s Practice Management committee. He’s an award-winning medical educator and has held faculty appointments at three medical schools. He has also taken teams of medical students abroad on month-long medical missionary trips.
Radzienda graduated from Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine and returns to his hometown of Chicago with his new role at Sound Physicians.
