Methodist Health System is a new member of a Premier healthcare alliance initiative uniting providers that are participating in accountable care organizations (ACOs).

Premier’s Partnership for Care Transformation (™) is a collaborative of health systems that share knowledge and best practices, while measuring and benchmarking their care to improve population health and contain costs.

Methodist joined PACT’s Implementation Collaborative, consisting of 24 health systems across 21 states that are actively implementing new care and payor models. PACT members enable data-driven, evidence-based decisions that improve quality, reduce costs, enhance patient engagement and satisfaction, and coordinate care delivery. A recent Commonwealth Fund details their learnings on strategies for implementing ACOs.

“PACT supported Methodist as we prepared for the launch of our ACO,” said Tim Kirby, president of the Methodist Patient Centered ACO. “Collaborating with leading providers across the nation is a critical step to truly change practice patterns and learn how to ultimately improve population health.”

The Methodist Patient Centered ACO was recently selected to participate in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) voluntary Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP). PACT’s helped Methodist with the extensive application process it took to participate in the CMS initiative and is supporting the system as they implement MSSP.

Methodist was previously a member of PACT’s Readiness Collaborative, which includes 45 systems in 57 markets across 30 states that are learning about accountable care, and evaluating how to implement an ACO or accountable principles in their health systems.

Senior Vice President of Premier Performance Partners Wes Champion said, “Collaborative members are putting people at the center of their care process. They’re breaking down payment silos and creating integrated provider networks that are accountable for cost, quality, satisfaction and population health. We’re pleased that Methodist has joined with PACT members in building, testing and bringing to scale new models of care delivery.”
