Medical outsourcing makes up a small percentage of India's booming outsourcing market, but experts say that medical outsourcing is growing at a rate of 150 percent a year and shows no signs of abating. "Healthcare BPO is still not very large in India. The industry is estimated at about $300 million now. But it has immense potential and is a very attractive space to be in," says Divya Sehgal, CEO, Apollo Health Street. Healthcare providers, insurance companies pharmaceutical companies and healthcare IT companies make up the four groups that turn to India for their outsourcing needs, since many tasks can be carried out for much less money abroad than in the U.S. This trend will to continue to grow as healthcare industry groups search for ways to mitigate high healthcare costs.
