BRECKSVILLE, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MedData, a leading provider of medical billing services, announced today the appointment of Frank B. Murphy to its Board of Directors, effective May 1, 2011.

Murphy brings nearly 30 years of healthcare experience to MedData, about half of which were spent dedicated to the healthcare information technology services arena.
Currently, Murphy serves as president and chief executive officer at Perimeter Health Advisors, LLC, an advisory firm focused on healthcare mergers and acquisitions, due diligence and sector-related investment opportunities for private equity firms and public corporations. Prior, he was president and chief executive officer at HealthPort Technologies, LLC, where he directed overall strategy, operations, sales and marketing for this provider of technology solutions and business management services for hospitals and physicians nationwide. Previously, Murphy was president of the Physician Services Division at Per-Se Technologies, Inc., a publicly traded business management outsourcing company and the largest billing services provider in the U.S. Per-Se was acquired by McKesson (NYSE:MCK) in 2007. He joined Per-Se in 1998 and assumed the division president position in 2000 after serving in roles with increasing responsibility. During his tenure, Murphy was credited with executing various corporate initiatives, including, among others, improving client retention; restructuring the operations, technology, sales and administrative teams; and implementing cost-control processes and efficiencies that contributed to improved financial performance and lower operating expenses.
Murphy also spent many years at multi-location healthcare facility networks such as Charter Behavioral Systems, where he was regional director and Hospital Corp. of America (HCA), where he began his extensive and prestigious healthcare career. At HCA, he was president and chief executive officer of several regional medical centers operating under the company’s umbrella during his 15 years there.
