MDdatacor Contracts with Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield for Patient-Centered Medical Home Program

ATLANTA, Jan. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MDdatacor, Inc., a leader in health care clinical quality management solutions for insurers and health care providers, today announced that Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield has chosen MDdatacor as the technology vendor to support their patient-centered medical home quality improvement initiative.

A medical home model of care is an approach to providing health care services in a high-quality and cost-effective manner.  Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield will provide the patented MDinsight® system to participating physician practices, allowing them to aggregate patient clinical information from multiple data sources and share data across care settings.

"This medical home program will allow Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield to create a new model of health care delivery that improves coordination between providers and focuses on patient safety, wellness and prevention rather than episodic-based care," said Steve Spaulding, Vice President of Enterprise Networks, Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

The MDinsight® system's robust analytics engine evaluates patient data against evidence-based clinical guidelines to provide Web-based reports identifying patients who need an office visit, even generating patient letters asking them to contact their physician.  The MDinsight® system also enables the sharing of patient information, allowing a physician encountering a new patient to instantly access the patient's previous lab results, medication and treatment histories from other providers, as well as view gaps in care.  This improved efficiency helps achieve improvement in quality of care and a reduction in healthcare costs.

"MDdatacor is proud to have been selected by Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield and we look forward to partnering with them in their efforts to improve health care delivery for both providers and patients in Arkansas," said Tim Roche, co-founder, CEO and president of MDdatacor.
