MD Anderson Signs Contract For Pyxis ES Technology From CareFusion

SAN DIEGO, June 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- CareFusion Corp. (NYSE: CFN), a leading, global medical technology company, today announced a new contract with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for a new Pyxis® ES platform for medication dispensing technology.

Terms of the contract include MD Anderson Cancer Center to implement the Pyxis® Enterprise Server, Pyxis MedStation® ES system and the Pyxis® Anesthesia ES system for its 600-bed hospital and outpatient centers.

"We are proud to support a national leader like MD Anderson to help ensure the highest levels of medication safety and medication dispensing efficiency," said Rusty Frantz, senior vice president and general manager of Dispensing Technologies at CareFusion. "For more than 20 years, Pyxis dispensing technologies have been on the cutting edge of medication and supply management for hospitals, and the new ES platform is the next leap in that journey."

The new CareFusion Pyxis® ES platform is a combination of hardware and software that can significantly reduce time for nursing and pharmacy to dispense and administer medications because of simpler, more efficient workflows. The new system also eliminates the need for redundant workflows through direct synchronization with pharmacy formulary, as well as hospital and patient identity management systems. The system enables pharmacy and nursing managers to maintain consistent medication management practices and policies across multiple hospitals and clinics, which can help improve medication safety.
