e-MDs was identified by an established vendor selection committee, the Kansas Electronic Medical Record Steering Committee, as being capable of offering Kansas providers optimal financial opportunities by adding e-MDs Solution Series™ EHR system to their practice. The comprehensive selection process lasted several months and judged vendors via thorough market research and an open RFI process.  Applicants were assessed based on CCHIT certification and an evaluation of 419 functional requirements.  e-MDs fulfilled the criteria and was recognized as a Tier One vendor, capable of offering products that meet the test of functionality, satisfying Stage I Meaningful Use criteria, and offering  a comprehensive set of support services to both the KFMC and contracting providers.

"We are extremely pleased to be working with e-MDs and are confident that this partnership will further enhance our services and value being delivered to over 600 providers in Kansas," said Michael Aldridge, MBA, Vice President of Information Technology at KFMC.

Through KFMC's partnership with Associated Purchasing Services, the organization's group purchasing affiliate, the selected EHR Vendors have agreed to offer REC Kansas participants such benefits as reduced equipment costs, consulting support costs, software costs, greater control over contract terms, pre-negotiated standard contracts, ensured functionality support for primary care providers, as well as ensuring requirements for safety net clinics are met.

"We are delighted to have been chosen by the KFMC HITREC as a tier one preferred vendor.  They are a very forward thinking organization and their efforts will have a significant impact on the adoption of sophisticated healthcare technology that will benefit patients throughout the state of Kansas," said Michael Stearns, MD, CEO of e-MDs. "Under their guidance we can expect to see a marked transformation in healthcare in the state of Kansas through the effective use of interoperable EHRs."
