(KFMC). KFMC serves as the federally designated Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (HITREC) for the state of Kansas, and works with physicians to improve the quality of healthcare provided to the state of Kansas, including Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. e-MDs will work with KFMC to encourage and facilitate the adoption of EHR technology throughout Kansas as well as ensure enhanced purchasing power for the state's healthcare providers. e-MDs was identified by an established vendor selection committee, the Kansas Electronic Medical Record Steering Committee, as being capable of offering Kansas providers optimal financial opportunities by adding e-MDs Solution Series™ EHR system to their practice. The comprehensive selection process lasted several months and judged vendors via thorough market research and an open RFI process. Applicants were assessed based on CCHIT certification and an evaluation of 419 functional requirements. e-MDs fulfilled the criteria and was recognized as a Tier One vendor, capable of offering products that meet the test of functionality, satisfying Stage I Meaningful Use criteria, and offering a comprehensive set of support services to both the KFMC and contracting providers.
