PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Physicians from the Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG) have been named top performers by the non-profit Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) in its annual statewide pay for performance (P4P) rankings. These are the physicians who care for Kaiser Permanente members in all 13 areas they serve in Southern California.
The IHA analyzed 221 medical organizations statewide for its annual P4P top provider group awards program. The four measurement areas were clinical quality, patient experience, use of information technology-enabled systems, and coordinated diabetes care. Those medical groups scoring in the top 20 percent were deemed top performers by the IHA, which aims to promote quality improvement, accountability, and affordability throughout California. SCPMG physicians have been recognized by the IHA for the past five years in the areas they serve.
“All of our physicians should be justifiably proud of this recognition for the outstanding care they provide to our members,” said Jeffrey Weisz, M.D., executive medical director, SCPMG. "Our long-standing emphasis on preventive, integrated, and information technology assisted care enables our patients to live healthier lives. This objective third party recognition is valuable information that will help consumers make their health care choices.”
The IHA recognition goes to SCPMG physicians in the following 13 areas: Antelope Valley, Baldwin Park, Downey, Fontana, Kern County, Los Angeles, Orange County, Panorama City, Riverside, San Diego, South Bay, West Los Angeles, and Woodland Hills.
The IHA recognition adds to a string of honors that Kaiser Permanente Southern California has received this year. For example, earlier this year, the California Office of Patient Advocate’s (OPA) annual HMO report card bestowed upon KPSC the maximum four stars for clinical quality and the maximum four stars for customer service, the first time in the history of the yearly report that any state HMO earned top marks in both categories.
