The Jackson Clinic will integrate the Electronic Health Record with its Allscripts Vision™ Practice Management solution, providing full-spectrum automation of all clinical and financial activities.

"We have been using an EHR system for over 10 years, so we understand how crucial it is to have instant access to the patient's medical history, which enables our physicians to make better decisions at the point of care," said Keith Williams, MD, Medical Director of The Jackson Clinic.  "The Allscripts EHR has the refined and efficient clinical workflows to help us continue to deliver high quality care in the most effective manner possible."

The clinic, which previously used Misys EMR, selected the Allscripts Electronic Health Record  based on their successful experience with the Misys product and the company's reputation for strong client service and technology innovation. "We wanted a long-term partner that could provide a seamless transition from our old system, and one that also had the commitment and resources to continue innovating EHR technology as well as enabling us to qualify for federal EHR incentive payments," Williams added.

By upgrading to the Allscripts Electronic Health Record, The Jackson Clinic expects to qualify for more than $4 million from the federal EHR Stimulus program approved by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  Beginning next year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will pay physicians up to $44,000 for implementing a certified Electronic Health Record and utilizing it in a "meaningful" way.

"The Jackson Clinic is a leader in providing quality care," said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. "They understand that technology offers their physicians an opportunity to provide even safer, higher quality patient care to the people of West Tennessee. They are also representative of the significant number of leading medical groups who have successfully used Misys practice management and EMR solutions for years and now are upgrading to our latest electronic health record, both to take advantage of the meaningful use requirements of the federal stimulus program and to achieve their goal of delivering higher quality care more efficiently and at lower cost."
