Technology highlighted as strategy to reduce diagnosis error
ANN ARBOR, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Isabel Healthcare announced today that it has been recognized by the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority as a core strategy to assist in reducing diagnosis error.
The September Patient Safety Advisory (http://www.patientsafetyauthority.org/ADVISORIES/AdvisoryLibrary/2010/Sep7(3)/Pages/76.aspx) published by the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority reviews the common causes of diagnosis error, those diagnoses most effected by diagnosis error and risk reduction strategies that facilities, diagnosing physicians, and patients themselves can undertake to decrease diagnostic error and increase patient safety.
Diagnosis error, whether misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis, remains one of the leading causes of patient injury and an underlying cause of adverse patient safety related events. The associated downstream clinical, financial, and legal impact is burdensome to all involved, institutions, providers, insurers and most importantly patients.
