Indiana Health Information Exchange to Detail Its Use of Predictive Analytics to Reduce Hospital Readmissions at the National Readmissions Summit

The (IHIE), the nation’s leading health information provider, will detail its work with to develop predictive analytics healthcare solutions at the National Readmissions Summit, where Predixion is sponsoring the Mini Summit on Predictive Modeling, Advanced Analytics, and Metrics Issues in Readmissions and exhibiting in Booth 9.
Curt Sellke, Vice President of Analytics for , a for-profit subsidiary of IHIE, will present on December 5 at 1:30 p.m. ET. Sellke will discuss how IHIE is using ™, Predixion’s flagship predictive analytics platform, to develop new predictive applications aimed at further supporting the patient and business needs of Indiana ACOs and hospitals. The first module available from the collaboration between IHIE and Predixion will be Predixion Readmission Insight™, a predictive solution for reducing preventable hospital readmissions.
“We are mining the INPC database to develop and deploy predictive models that enable physicians to reduce hospital readmissions, choose optimal therapies, reduce redundant testing and avoid drug-drug interactions, among other life-saving and efficiency-generating efforts,” Sellke said.
In his presentation, Sellke will detail the Indiana Network for Patient Care (INPC), a statewide interoperable network maintained by IHIE that provides physicians with a "virtual" patient record to provide a better overall picture of a patient’s health. The INPC is the nation’s largest clinical data repository. It consists of more than 14 terabytes of data and 10 million unique patient records, handles over a million secure health transactions daily and contains three billion pieces of clinical data, 80 million radiology images, 50 million text reports and 750,000 EKG readings. The INPC is powered by industry-leading technology that IHIE offers nationally through Thrive HDS.
“In the past, hospital-based readmission efforts focus primarily on retrospective reporting that serves to audit historic outcomes and expose high-level trending information,” said Michael Hollenbeck, Predixion Software vice president of Healthcare Solutions, who will present on December 4 at 2:45 p.m. ET. “New technologies and solutions are able to create a scientifically-based model that can be used to identify currently admitted patients that are at elevated risk of readmission with great precision,” Hollenbeck said. “Predictive analytics models and solutions when integrated into healthcare applications are helping our customers improve quality of care and decrease healthcare costs.”
