IDG's Computerworld Names Kaiser Permanente to 2011 List of Best Places to Work in Information Technology

OAKLAND, Calif., June 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- IDG's Computerworld announced that Kaiser Permanente is a 2011 Best Places to Work in IT honoree, one of 100 top organizations that challenge their IT staffs while providing great benefits and compensation. Honorees will be included in coverage in Computerworld along with results from the 18th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey.

"As an integrated health care organization, Kaiser Permanente's mission is to foster total health in all communities. This mission isn't exclusive to members' health care needs," says Philip Fasano, executive vice president and chief information officer, Kaiser Permanente. "Creating a work environment that allows our employees to thrive is just as important as providing top-notch doctors and innovative technology. When we create a workplace that empowers creativity, collaboration and confidence, we create a better future for health care."

This is Kaiser Permanente's second year participating in Computerworld's Best Places to Work in IT list, moving from No. 27 in 2010 to No. 16 this year. Kaiser Permanente also earned the No. 1 ranking in Computerworld's top 10 list for Diversity this year, up from No. 6 in 2010. Kaiser Permanente's IT workforce drove the ranking by participating in Computerworld's in-depth workplace survey earlier this year. The magazine highlights Kaiser Permanente's unique support for technology ideas from all employees through the company's Innovation Technology Fund, which finances pilots of technology projects that have the potential to improve health care quality and service, the affordability of care, and/or the quality of employees' work lives.

"To be among the Best Places to Work in IT, it's not enough to seek out and hire the most talented IT professionals, offer them competitive pay and provide great benefits," said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. "Smart IT people realize that they need to get up to speed on their employer's revenue opportunities. The organizations that made this year's Best Places to Work list are creating a work environment that both trains and encourages IT personnel to pursue business-driven priorities."
