In a customer-friendly move, Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital will change rooms on the medical-surgical floors to private rooms early next year, reports The Miami Herald today. Replacing many of the now semi-private setups, the rooms will now feature one patient bed instead of two.
"It's good business. Insured patients who can choose where to go will no longer have to rule out Jackson because they don't know who or what is going to be in the next bed," Jackson Memorial CEO Carlos Migoya said in the article.
Sixty percent of hospitals in the region offer only private rooms, according to the South Florida Hospital and Healthcare Association. Article
