CLEVELAND & WESTPORT, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Radisphere (www.radisphere.net), the only radiology provider offering proven accessibility and accountability to community hospitals, today announced the appointment of Randall A. Lipps to its board of directors.

Mr. Lipps is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Omnicell, Inc. (NASDAQ: OMCL), a leading provider of systems that enable healthcare facilities to increase operational efficiency, enhance patient safety, and allow clinicians to spend more time with patients.

Mr. Lipps founded Omnicell in 1992, which was born from his direct personal experience. When his daughter was hospitalized at birth, he observed inefficiencies, redundancies and risks in how care was administered. In one year, he created automated solutions that safely and effectively shepherded medications and supplies to patient bedsides, leading to Omnicell’s creation. Currently, Omnicell has more than 2,200 hospital customers.
Under his leadership, Omnicell became a publicly traded company in August 2001. Since 2003, Omnicell has been one of the top 150 Silicon Valley companies, as measured by market capitalization, by the San Jose Mercury News.
Because of his passion for increasing healthcare efficiency and improving patient safety, Mr. Lipps joined the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Nursing Board of Overseers in 2009. He is also on the Board of the ASHP Foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. The mission of the ASHP Foundation is to improve the health and well-being of patients in health systems through appropriate, safe and effective medication use. He holds bachelor’s degrees in economics and business administration from Southern Methodist University.
