Software becomes latest HMS solution certified capable of enabling physician practices and community hospitals to qualify for federal funding under ARRA
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Healthcare Management Systems Inc. (HMS) has received certification for HMS Ambulatory EHR Version 9.2.1 from the Drummond Group, an authorized testing and certification body of the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC-ATCB). The Drummond Group tests and certifies that electronic health records meet the meaningful use criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
The certification of HMS Ambulatory EHR completes HMS’ spectrum of certified EHR solutions for inpatient services, emergency departments and physician practices. HMS Ambulatory EHR is designed to help physicians qualify for Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services incentive payments under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
“The first three months of 2011 have been productive ones for HMS with the ONC-ATCB certification of our inpatient EHR in January, EDIS in February and now Ambulatory EHR,” said Tom Stephenson, president and chief executive officer of HMS. “We’re pleased to offer community hospitals a full range of certified solutions that can help them deliver more effective and efficient patient care and to qualify for meaningful use funding under the ARRA.”
Healthcare providers using the EHR systems of certified vendors are qualified to receive federal stimulus monies upon demonstrating meaningful use of the technology—a key component of the federal government’s push to improve clinical-care delivery through the adoption and effective use of EHRs by U.S. healthcare providers.
This Complete EHR is 2011/2012 compliant and has been certified by Drummond Group, an ONC-ATCB approved to certify any complete or modular EHR both ambulatory and inpatient, in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. This certification does not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or guarantee the receipt of incentive payments.
