Healthwise Welcomes New General Counsel Eileen Casal

BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Eileen Casal joins Healthwise as general counsel, and will manage strategic business and legal-related matters for the organization. Healthwise develops consumer-focused, evidence-based health information to help people make better health decisions.

Casal was most recently vice president, general counsel, and secretary for Teradyne, Inc., a leading supplier of automatic test equipment for the consumer electronics, computing, telecommunications, and defense industries. Prior to that, she served as vice president and general counsel for various technology companies in Massachusetts. Casal has over 23 years of corporate legal experience within the technology industry. She currently serves on the Board of Governors for Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Early in her professional career, Casal was a physical therapist at the Mayo Clinic.

“Eileen brings to us a reputation for legal excellence in the high-tech and software licensing world,” said Healthwise Chairman and CEO Don Kemper. “In addition, her passion for quality health care complements the depth and flavor of the Healthwise executive team.”

As general counsel for Healthwise, Casal is responsible for the legal affairs of the organization. She will manage legal matters in the areas of corporate law and governance; business transactions, contract management, and dispute resolution; non-profit status, government and regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and privacy; strategic initiatives and international expansion; and employment law.

“I’ve wanted to apply my legal experience to the health care industry for a long time,” said Casal. “Joining Healthwise gives me the opportunity to help people become more involved in their own care and ultimately improve health care overall.”
