Halifax Health Physician Group to Serve UnitedHealthcare Medicare Plan Participants in Volusia and Orange Counties

UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plan participants now have in-network access to Halifax Health-employed physicians

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- UnitedHealthcare, a UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) company, announced it has expanded its network relationship with Halifax Health, giving UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plan participants in-network access to the more than 200 Halifax Health physicians.

Halifax Health physicians provide numerous services including urology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, neurosurgery, endocrinology, plastic surgery, reconstructive and hand surgery, and family and sports medicine in addition to emergency medicine. UnitedHealthcare’s commercial and Medicaid plan participants already have access to Halifax Health’s physicians.

This follows an expansion of Halifax Health’s network agreement last March that enables UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plan participants to receive in-network access to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach and Halifax Health - Medical Center of Port Orange.

UnitedHealthcare offers Medicare Advantage plans that carry the SecureHorizons, AARP and Evercare names.

“Offering expanded access is another important way to meet the needs of our patients and our community,” said Arvin Lewis, Halifax Health vice president of Patient Business and Financial Services. “It really helps to demonstrate our commitment to being the area’s leading healthcare provider.”

“UnitedHealthcare and Halifax Health look forward to expanding upon our shared commitment to deliver broad access to quality, affordable health care for our customers in Central Florida,” said Kathy Winans, UnitedHealthcare executive director in Florida. “Halifax Health is an important provider of health care services to this community, and we know our customers appreciate having new, local access to Halifax’s outstanding service.”
