Going against the grain: Boston-area doctor gives same-day appointments, accepts walk-ins

Dr. Dennis M. Dimitri apparently runs a pretty tight ship. At his Worcester, Mass.- based practice, he doesn't accept many appointments in advance. But patients can call in the morning and show up for a time slot later in the day. He also accepts walk-ins, according to an article by the Boston Globe/Kaiser Health News. His approach is a departure from the norm in those parts. It takes an average of two months to get an appointment with a family doctor in the Boston area, and with the expected influx of previously uninsured consumers, waits will only get worse. Article
