Geisinger Health System President and CEO Dr. Glenn Steele Named Premier Healthcare Alliance Board of Directors Chairman

Board also appoints new vice chair, two new members to help lead the alliance’s 2,500 hospitals and 80,000-plus other healthcare sites

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Geisinger Health System President and CEO Glenn D. Steele Jr., MD, PhD, has been named chairman of the board of directors for the Premier healthcare alliance.

For nearly five years, Dr. Steele has been a member of Premier’s board, recently serving as vice chair. He succeeds Michael D. Connelly, president and CEO of Catholic Health Partners, who served as chairman for two years.

Fairview Health Services’ President and CEO Mark Eustis, who has served Premier’s board for two years, assumed the vice chair position. Fairview is composed of seven hospitals in Minnesota and a continuum of 40-plus primary care clinics, a wide range of specialty services, home care and senior services.

The board also appointed two new members:

  • Robert Issai, president and CEO of the Daughters of Charity Health System, a regional health system composed of six hospitals and medical centers spanning the California coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
  • Richard J. Statuto, president and CEO of Bon Secours Health System Inc., a not-for-profit Catholic health system with more than 30 facilities in seven states in the eastern U.S. The health system recently won the Premier Excellence Award.
