Former Sen. Bill Frist to Speak about the Impact of Health Care Reform on Physicians At CAP’10—THE Pathologists’ Meeting™

--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The College of American Pathologists:

WHAT:

Former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Dr. Bill Frist (R-TN), will speak about the progress being made in health care reform and how it will impact physicians at a luncheon for The College of American Pathologists (CAP) House of Delegates and Residents Forum, as part of CAP’s annual scientific meeting.

WHY:

More than 1,000 pathologists will gather in Chicago on September 26-29 for the annual meeting of the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The CAP House of Delegates is pathologists’ voice to the College leadership, providing a forum to discuss thinking on the issues facing pathologists. Each year the CAP’s PathPac political action committee invites a leading policymaker to attend the lunch and speak on current events. As a former congressional leader and a physician, Dr. Frist will have insightful perspectives on health care reform and its impact on patient care.

WHO:

The College of American Pathologists is a medical society serving more than 17,000 physician members and the laboratory community throughout the world. It is the world’s largest association composed exclusively of board-certified pathologists and is widely considered the leader in laboratory quality assurance. The College is an advocate for high-quality and cost-effective patient care.

Pathologists are diagnostic physicians and essential members of the patient’s health care team. They provide a diagnostic roadmap from disease identification to therapeutic intervention in both chronic and life-threatening illnesses. In fact, more than 70 percent of all decisions about diagnosis, treatment, hospital admission, and discharge rest on the pathologist’s report.

The Luncheon is open to media, but all other House of Delegates events are restricted and closed. All media must check-in at registration in the event Media Room, Grand Suite 4 at the Hyatt Regency.
