Florida Medicaid law draws attention

The Florida media is examining the impact of the Medicaid restructuring passed earlier this week by Tallahassee lawmakers. The plan backed by Gov. Jeb Bush will eventually shift all 2.2 million Floridians on Medicaid to privately managed plans, a move Florida officials say is necessary to restrict the spiraling costs of the program. Critics are responding that the reorganization will threaten access to healthcare to those who can barely afford it. For the first year, the plan will be limited to Broward County and the Jacksonville area.
