DST Health Solutions Joins the Johns Hopkins Center for Population Health IT as Founding Member of Industry Partners Program

New initiative aimed at driving use of health information technology to improve population health management

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Aug. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- DST Health Solutions, LLC today announced that it has been named a founding partner of the Johns Hopkins Center for Population Health IT (CPHIT), a program dedicated to supporting health care systems and public health agencies through the improved and expanded use of health information technology (HIT).

CPHIT will collaborate with HIT industry leaders and public and private organizations to identify population health priorities, learn best practices, collaborate on research and development, and research findings that will aid in driving change in population health management. As a participant in the CPHIT Industry Partners Program, DST will gain access to CPHIT's proprietary research and technology developments, and a DST executive will serve on CPHIT's advisory board.

"We are grateful that DST is our inaugural partner in the CPHIT Industry Partner's Program," said Jonathan Weiner, DrPH, professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and director of CPHIT. "This new center is the first of its kind anywhere, and we strongly believe that population health IT will transform the way health care is delivered. We are excited to be at the epicenter of this revolution, and look forward to expanding our long-standing relationship with DST Health Solutions as a distributor of The Johns Hopkins ACG (Adjusted Clinical Groups) System and new CPHIT partner."

CPHIT will draw upon Johns Hopkins University's expertise in public health, medical informatics, computer science, and business and systems engineering as it investigates how to apply HIT and leverage electronic health record (EHR) data to improve patient care quality, safety and efficiency.

"DST is proud to expand on its 20-plus year relationship with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and serve as a CPHIT founding partner to address the challenge of population health management," said Teri Mullaney, Vice President, Business Solutions, DST Health Solutions. "We strongly believe in this initiative and the impact it will have on transforming the way population health is perceived, documented and managed, and we look forward to leveraging this opportunity to help drive solution innovations for our customer base of health plans, physicians and provider organizations."

DST joins Johns Hopkins University in celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Johns Hopkins ACG System.
