Deyta Provides a Free Online Tool to Help Hospices Submit Voluntary Structural Measure Reporting to CMS

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Deyta LLC, a leader in healthcare quality measurement tools and benchmarks, has developed a free web-based reporting tool for hospices called the Voluntary Structural Measure Reporting Program. In response to 2010's Affordable Care Act, hospices are being asked to voluntarily submit data about the structural measure addressing their participation in a Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

CMS has said that "voluntary reporting of the structural measure data with specific quality indicators related to patient care would allow us to learn what the important patient care quality issues are for hospices and would serve to provide useful information in the design and structure of the quality reporting program."

Deyta requested specifications from RTI International, the organization CMS contracted with to capture and analyze this information and built a tool to allow hospices easy and accurate transfer of all requested structural measure details. The tool is free and can be used by any hospice wishing to participate in the voluntary reporting initiative. The tool's database contains hundreds of hospice quality indicators and provides information for each indicator; saving hospices the time and effort involved in locating the specifics regarding each indicator. In addition to ease of data entry, hospices that use the tool will also receive a report from Deyta summarizing all submitted data.

"We are pleased that Deyta's experience with quality databases and hospice quality measurement reporting allows us to provide this service to our friends in the hospice community," said J. Kevin Porter, Deyta's President and CEO. "We believe increasing participation in this program can provide CMS with insights into the already outstanding level of quality in the hospice industry as they work to develop their quality reporting program."
