Clinic teammates, not company leaders, chose nonprofits for donations
DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- DaVita Inc. (NYSE: DVA), a leading provider of kidney care services that is committed to improving the quality of life for those diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD), today announced that its Florida dialysis clinics had generated $63,500 in charitable contributions in the state through the “DaVita Way of Giving.”
As part of DaVita’s larger national charitable giving efforts, teammates (employees) at each DaVita® clinic were invited to request contributions for the 501(c)(3) charity of their choice. Clinics were also allowed to team up on behalf of a single charity to request larger contributions. More than 400 charities received contributions ranging from $1,000 to over $40,000.
Florida charities received $63,500 – one of the highest totals of any state in the nation.
“The DaVita Way of Giving has empowered our Florida teammates in a way that not many companies have done,” said Mark Taylor, division vice president at DaVita. “Encouraging teammates to give to local organizations that matter the most to them really fosters a caring environment, exactly what we aim to bring to the dialysis clinics we operate every day.”
Florida nonprofits receiving contributions include Catholic Charities, Humane Society of Broward County, Second Harvest Food Bank, Hope Reins, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida, and more.
“We are so grateful for this gift from DaVita to our ‘Share-A-Night’ Annual Giving Campaign,” said Laura Heidrich, Development Director at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida. “DaVita’s generosity will help the Ronald McDonald House® program continue to provide comfort, care and a ‘home-away-from-home’ to families with children in medical crisis in Central Florida.”
