CSC Tops Ranking of Healthcare Consultants to Help Achieve Meaningful Use

FALLS CHURCH, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it has been recognized as a leader amongst healthcare technology consultants, according to a new KLAS report. The report, Shifting Demand for Consultants: Who’s Hot, Who’s Not and Why, surveyed 118 healthcare providers to assess their perception of professional services firms (PSF) in the industry and who they will look to for help in achieving meaningful use.

According to KLAS, CSC is the “big winner” — garnering the most consideration of any PSF and receiving the greatest amount of attention, mostly for implementation support and skilled staffing. In the survey, three separate providers reported that CSC has “deep healthcare/application knowledge and bench strength,” “good technical resources,” “good exposure in terms of meaningful use” and is “a step ahead in the implementation process.”

“We are honored to be recognized as a leader among healthcare technology consultants,” said Mark Roman, president of CSC’s Healthcare Group. “This recognition by KLAS reinforces CSC’s commitment to help our nation’s hospitals deliver the highest quality of care and achieve the benefits from meaningful use of electronic health records.”

“CSC was looked at more often than any other firm,” said Mike Smith, report author and member of KLAS professional services team. “CSC was looked at by hospitals of all sizes, but more so by large IDNs and mid-sized hospitals.”

Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), hospitals will receive payments from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) starting in October 2010 for the successful implementation and meaningful use of EHRs. With only months until hospitals must demonstrate meaningful use, the KLAS study found that nearly 70 percent of organizations and 90 percent of IDNs expect to hire services firms to help them achieve meaningful use.

CSC’s Healthcare Group, which serves healthcare providers, health plans, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, and allied industries around the world, is a global leader in transforming the healthcare industry through the effective use of information to improve healthcare outcomes, decision-making and operating efficiency.
