Computer Programs and Systems, Inc. Forms IT Managed and Professional Services Business Unit

Expands IT Service Offerings

MOBILE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Computer Programs and Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CPSI), a leading provider of healthcare information technology to community and specialty hospitals, announced today the recent formation of a new business unit, Information Technology (IT) Managed and Professional Services. With the country’s healthcare agenda squarely focused on adopting the complete electronic health record, community hospitals are faced with monumental tasks. For many, it is almost overwhelming, considering the scope of what must be accomplished.

“CPSI recognizes that it makes sense for many of our customers to rely on third-party service organizations to help them identify their IT objectives, define the best way to meet those requirements and manage the resulting projects and associated technologies,” said Scott Schneider, CPSI Senior Vice President of Business and Corporate Development. “Building upon our over 30 years in the community healthcare marketplace as a turnkey, single solution provider, we believe that no one is better positioned to help our clients with these important endeavors than CPSI.”

Patrick Immel, Vice President of Information Technology Services, explained, “While managed service products provide customers the ability to transfer many of the day-to-day management responsibilities of their IT infrastructure to CPSI’s Managed Service Provider (MSP) organization, professional offerings are designed to help facilities successfully meet today’s information technology challenges through project management and IT staffing engagements.”

In describing the Company’s new offerings, Mr. Immel noted, “Facilities leveraging CPSI’s MSP organization are provided with predictable IT support costs while affording themselves access to technologies and expertise that may otherwise be unavailable or cost prohibitive.” He further explained, “With many of the routine system management tasks handled by CPSI, hospital information technology personnel are able to focus on more pressing projects and issues.”

Professional services include customized engagements led by experienced, industry experts. “Whether a client needs help with a specific project or needs a more permanent relationship, CPSI is able to provide professional solutions to the complex IT issues community healthcare providers are faced with today,” Immel pointed out. “With hundreds of HIS installations and countless add-on application implementations under our belt, CPSI understands project management quite well. Effective planning coupled with direct, hands-on leadership can help our customers meet their business objectives in a timely and organized fashion.”

IT managed and Professional Service solutions are available to any CPSI client hospital. Current MSP offerings include a comprehensive suite of services including network management and monitoring, server and storage management, hosted email, firewall management, malware protection, data center services, help desk solutions and more. Professional engagements such as IT Staffing, IT Infrastructure Assessment and project management for CPOE Implementation, Meaningful Use Achievement and others are individually customized to meet specific client requirements.
