ClearPractice Receives Authorization from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for Physician Quality Reporting

Office-based practitioners qualify for 2% reimbursements for each initiative

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ClearPractice LLC, a leading provider of SaaS-based solutions for office-based practitioners, today announced it has been authorized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), allowing its eligible customers to qualify for a 2% reimbursement when they use the company’s E-Prescribing solution and a 2% reimbursement for PQRI reporting through the patient registry within ClearPractice’s EMR solution. ClearPractice configured its EMR solution to meet all the requirements for the 2010 Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) registry and E-Prescribing, enabling these reimbursement incentives to positively impact revenue for its target market of office-based practitioners.

“With increasing patient visits creating more demand on time, while operating costs escalate due to decreasing reimbursement such as the 21% Medicare fee reduction that recently passed, providers need easy, effective ways to qualify and access incentives,” explains Dr. David Fairbrook, president of the user group and chairman of the clinical advisory committee at ClearPractice. “Since ClearPractice is sensitive to the needs of the office-based practitioner, their program is designed to allow busy practices to submit data to CMS with no manual intervention. The program runs automatically, without system set up, a real plus when the physician’s time is so valuable.”

PQRI is a voluntary quality reporting program established by CMS in which physicians collect and report data related to performance measures. In 2010, physicians who satisfactorily submit applicable quality measures data are eligible for an additional 2% Medicare incentive payment. As an authorized PQRI registry, ClearPractice will submit data to CMS on behalf of eligible physicians based on PQRI quality measures. Similarly, CMS is offering a 2% incentive to providers who use E-prescribing solutions to improve patient safety and reduce sky-rocketing medication costs. CMS hopes use of E-prescribing solutions will reduce both medical errors and costs.

“Since our solution is SaaS-based, we can easily evolve with the regulatory environment, ensuring our physician customers are always compliant with CMS mandates and eligible for incentives,” explains Anthony Gil, director of product management, ClearPractice. “Our EMR solution is also easy to install, with no upgrades or maintenance, making it a perfect option for the smaller ambulatory-care practice.”
