CCAGW Urges the House to Repeal ObamaCare

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) today urged the members of the House of Representatives to vote in favor of H.R. 2, the Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act. As various provisions of ObamaCare have been implemented, taxpayers have begun to fully comprehend the damaging costs, inefficiencies, and potential unconstitutionality of the legislation.

Polls consistently find that most Americans favor full or partial repeal of the bill. On January 18, 2011 CCAGW sent a letter to the House of Representatives urging their support of H.R. 2. Recent surveys indicate that almost two-thirds of physicians believe that the new law will diminish patient care, and 26 states, have joined lawsuits challenging the new law.

Republican leaders in Congress have tallied the cost of the health care law at $2.6 trillion and stated that the legislation would increase the deficit by $701 billion in its first 10 years. The $2.6 trillion package is packed with tax increases, potentially unconstitutional individual mandates, and budget-busting unfunded Medicaid expansions. The bill was crammed with sloppily-written and onerous provisions, including a draconian 1099 tax provision, which has been recognized by both Republicans and Democrats as a jobs killer and a threat to small business survival.

“The government takeover of healthcare will only exacerbate the country’s fiscal distress,” said CCAGW President Tom Schatz. “Over the past two years, taxpayers have watched the national debt balloon to more than $14 trillion as the Democratic majority in Congress and President Obama relentlessly expanded the size and scope of the federal government. Americans have had enough and, after a sweeping rejection of the bigger government agenda in November, are demanding that Congress begin to cut wasteful spending and reduce the size of the national debt. That process begins with a vote in favor of H.R. 2.”

CCAGW is the lobbying arm of Citizens Against Government Waste, the nation’s largest nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government.
