Health Information Exchange Identified as a Core Initiative Advancing Carolinas HealthCare System’s Patient-focused Philosophy
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS), one of the leading healthcare organizations in the Southeast with 32 affiliated hospitals in North and South Carolina, announced today it has selected Medicity as its partner to build a multi-state health information exchange (HIE).
Carolinas HealthCare System is expanding on its successful implementation of Medicity’s Novo Grid by deploying the full suite of HIE solutions to connect entities across CHS and facilitate the secure sharing of data in a timely manner, improving provider communication, continuity of care, patient safety, and the quality of care provided to patients.
"Medicity’s solutions will enable Carolinas HealthCare System to securely share relevant inpatient and ambulatory data with community physicians and other caregivers across the care continuum,” explained Craig D. Richardville, Senior Vice President and CIO of Carolinas HealthCare System.
Medicity’s community health record complements CHS’ existing strategy of securely sharing information utilizing electronic health records (EHRs) and extending access to a longitudinal health record to physicians and other caregivers.
Brent Lambert, M.D., Vice President-Medical Informatics at Carolinas HealthCare System, added, “With this initiative, we re-emphasize our focus on excellent patient care by giving caregivers in the community secure access to relevant patient information across disparate electronic medical records.”
“Carolinas HealthCare System and physicians in the community will be empowered with secure access to patient information to improve the healthcare experience,” stated Kipp Lassetter, M.D., Medicity’s CEO. “Providing these connectivity options to physician practices is a critical step that will advance CHS’ core initiative to put patients first.”
