Aria Health Selects Allscripts Community Record to Share Health Information Between Philadelphia Area Hospitals and Physicians

CHICAGO and PHILADELPHIA, July 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --

NEWS FACTS:

Aria Health, the largest healthcare provider in Northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County, has selected the Allscripts Community Record powered by dbMotion to deliver end-to-end connectivity across its health system and the communities it serves. The Allscripts solution provides Aria's more than 700 employed and affiliated physicians and other caregivers with shared access to a single, unified patient record, delivering 'one source of truth' that bridges information gaps often encountered between health systems and independent providers who treat the same patients.

Aria Health's hospitals (with 477 licensed beds) and its multiple physician practices will implement the Allscripts solution to enable seamless data sharing between the Allscripts ambulatory Electronic Health Record (EHR) used by its employed physicians, the Allscripts Sunrise acute care EHR in its hospitals, and non-Allscripts systems used by a number of the other regional healthcare providers.

The Allscripts Community Record securely exchanges information between clinical systems from multiple vendors across a community. The solution harmonizes the data and presents it in the appropriate place and time within the caregiver's Electronic Health Record workflow, rather than requiring them to log in to a web portal or view read-only documents as is common with other methods of information exchange. As a result, providers can easily collaborate for a team approach to patient care, regardless of where they are located or which clinical technologies they use.

This high level of flexible information exchange positions Aria Health and its affiliated groups to address current and future healthcare challenges, such as regulatory compliance, quality measures, and disease management.

SUPPORTING QUOTES:

"We are excited that our long-term partnership with Allscripts has now been expanded to create a truly interoperable, connected healthcare environment," said Tom Stride, Chief Information Officer for Aria Health. "The quality of healthcare can only be enhanced when providers have access to data that is also actionable."

"Aria Health's leadership will help physicians across the Philadelphia area to remove the 'walls' between competitive IT systems, giving caregivers seamless access to the information they need when they need it, a virtual patient record that's shared across the community," said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts.  "We are excited to partner with Aria to build a Connected Community of Health in which all caregivers have access to comprehensive clinical information that provides insights that are meaningful for their providers and their patients."
