Alpha II Announces Software Integration with First Medical Solutions®

CodeWizard to improve coding accuracy and claims validity for First Medical Suite physician customers

MONTGOMERY, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Alpha II, a leader in healthcare coding, compliance and reimbursement, announced today the integration of Alpha II’s CodeWizard software with First Medical Solutions’ First Medical Suite, a combination of FirstEMR® and First Medical Office® (PMS) software. The addition of the developer’s toolkit will enhance accuracy and decision-making determinations within the revenue cycle management process of large and small ambulatory facilities.

“The majority of physicians do not code to the levels that they should, instead erring on the side of overly conservative coding, simply to avoid the risks and hassles associated with denied claims,” noted Denis Salins, chief technical officer of First Medical Solutions. “Because of this, medical facilities often do not receive appropriate reimbursement for their efforts, at a time when revenue demands have never been greater. With CodeWizard, there is no gray area with assigning the right code. The solution helps our physician customers accurately code at the correct level every time, thereby maximizing revenues for their practices.”

CodeWizard’s proprietary database extends beyond LCD/NCD coverage data to add clinical medical necessity guidance for all possible ICD-9/CPT combinations. The software’s code search capabilities are clinically-oriented, allowing users to look up codes based on official condition name, acronym or site. E&M provides the subjective analysis of medical decision making required to code patient visits accurately according to the documentation of the medical record.

“With First Medical Solutions’ broad focus on improving productivity, efficiency and quality of care in the medical community, the integration with CodeWizard builds on very real synergies,” said Stuart Newsome vice president, business development of Unicor Medical, one of the software developers behind the Alpha II cobranded solution. “Designed for software developers, the CodeWizard toolkit provides companies like First Medical Solutions a better way to offer the revenue cycle enhancements their customers seek.”

FirstEMR is designed for ambulatory providers and facilitates the transition to electronic medical records – making the process affordable, efficient and complete by applying advanced technology, flexible workflow and customizable options for every practice. First Medical Office software allows providers to submit claims electronically, track the status of claims, and communicate online with payers to confirm patient eligibility and determine what services will be paid, and when.
