A record number of users of the Sunrise Enterprise™ integrated clinical suite are in San Diego for the conference, Oct. 10-13. Nearly 1,500 attendees representing 240 healthcare organizations -- including 23 international organizations -- will meet with Allscripts solution experts, collaborate, network and share best practices for optimizing use of their Allscripts solutions including acute care Electronic Health Record (EHR), computerized physician order entry (CPOE), revenue cycle solutions, patient access and more.

"Coming just two months after our merger with Eclipsys and our recent Allscripts users conference, which drew a record 3,500 attendees, this week's conference provides our Sunrise clients with an opportunity to get to know the new Allscripts, to network, attend classes and learn about our roadmap for helping them achieve 'meaningful use' with the Sunrise Enterprise integrated clinical suite -- and our other electronic health records for hospitals and physicians," said Mr. Glen Tullman. "And we're proud to share a number of innovations that will enable our clients to improve access to information and improve coordination of patient care for providers."

The conference features more than 100 sessions presented by clients, Allscripts leadership and solutions experts, and industry thought leaders, in addition to demonstrations of new solutions and numerous opportunities for clients to collaborate and provide feedback to Allscripts. Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts, and Phil Pead, Allscripts Chairman and former CEO of Eclipsys (which merged with Allscripts in August 2010), will kick off the conference this morning with an opening session designed to share the company's vision for the future of healthcare transformation.

The conference's featured speaker is General Colin Powell, 65th Secretary of State and National Security Advisor to President Reagan, who will focus on lessons in leadership applicable to healthcare executives.

New Solutions Announced: Sunrise Mobile MD and Allscripts Developer Program with Allscripts Application Store & Exchange

Attendees will be the first to see two new innovations: Sunrise Mobile MD, an intuitive and easy-to-use iPhone application that enhances the way physicians deliver care for hospitalized patients; and the Allscripts Developer Program™ (ADP), a new program that provides an opportunity for clients and third parties to natively integrate their applications with Allscripts clinical and business performance solutions. Coming in December, clients will be able to search the new Allscripts Application Store & Exchange (ASX) to select or share applications developed through the ADP.

Sunrise Mobile MD, the latest in a series of clinically focused mobile applications from Allscripts, is an integrated extension of Sunrise Enterprise, which features the leading acute care Electronic Health Record (EHR) and CPOE system.  Designed to work natively on an Apple iPhone® or iPod touch®, Sunrise Mobile MD enables physicians to access and act upon rich patient data whenever and wherever they need it, improving workflow and productivity.  Thanks to its comprehensive integration with Sunrise, updates to patient information made within the electronic record are reflected in Sunrise Mobile MD in real-time, ensuring that physicians are acting upon the most current information available.

Sunrise Mobile MD delivers iconic, user-friendly graphical presentation of patient rounding information including patient summaries, administrative information, orders and notifications. Physicians using the Allscripts iPhone application gain direct access to and from the Allscripts Sunrise Enterprise EHR database, including the same security, auditing and sign-on capabilities. Any updates made in Sunrise Enterprise are reflected in the mobile device in real time.

"Sunrise Mobile MD promises to give the physicians what they have been asking for since moving to an EHR; convenient, instant access to current patient information anywhere, anytime," said Steve Margolis, M.D., Chief Medical Informatics Officer of Orlando Health in Orlando, FL. "Because it shares the same database with the Sunrise Enterprise EHR, it will be an efficient technology for hospitals to install and deploy. For Sunrise Enterprise hospital systems vying to win the affinity of physicians within their market, this new offering could prove an invaluable competitive advantage to better manage relationships with referring physicians, increase referrals or obtain referrals from new physicians."

Designed with powerful features to dramatically streamline physician workflow and improve day-to-day experience, the solution sets the stage for physicians to view Sunrise Mobile MD-enabled Allscripts hospitals as preferred medical centers -- hospitals concerned not only with improving the quality of patient care, but improving the physician's clinical experience.

Allscripts Developer Program and Allscripts Application Store & Exchange: Avoiding "Rip and Replace" Syndrome

The Allscripts Application Store & Exchange (ASX) is an online marketplace accessible within ClientConnect, the online community for Sunrise clients.  ASX enables clients to learn about and select a wide range of applications including third-party and client-built applications developed by registered, approved members of the Allscripts Developer Program.  The developer program, in turn, leverages Helios by Allscripts, an open architecture platform built into Sunrise Enterprise 5.5 that eliminates the need for software interfaces, providing a cost of ownership that is dramatically lower than a single-vendor system with a closed proprietary architecture.

By enabling Allscripts clients to easily locate and exchange technologies that are natively integrated with Sunrise Enterprise, ASX protects their existing technology investments and helps avoid expensive "rip and replace" situations.

"Allscripts believes in enabling change, not restricting it. The Allscripts Developer Program and Application Store and Exchange is a direct response to our clients' need for lower cost of ownership, integration and choice, and the latest example of the Allscripts commitment to open systems and open architecture as opposed to the closed systems offered by some of our competitors," said John Gomez, President of Product Strategy and Development for Allscripts.  "Through ASX, our clients will be able to find integrated applications developed by other clients and registered Allscripts partners, allowing them to quickly overcome the limitations of their current IT systems rather than investing in entirely new systems."

ASX will be available to Sunrise clients in December, 2010. In the meantime, interested Allscripts clients and partners are encouraged to register for the Allscripts Developer Program by visiting www.allscripts.com/adp or by emailing [email protected].
