FAIRFIELD, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Aetna (NYSE: AET) and Saint Barnabas Health Care System (SBHCS) today announced a new contract agreement that will enable Aetna members who receive care at any of the SBHCS hospitals and facilities to continue to be covered at the in-network level of benefits. The new multi-year contract will be effective on January 1, 2011.
"Both parties negotiated in good faith, with give and take on both sides, to reach a fair and realistic agreement that will maintain uninterrupted access to the Saint Barnabas facilities for our members who are their patients," said John Lawrence, Aetna president - New Jersey.

The new agreement applies to all Aetna health plan products including Student Health and Medicare. Hospitals included in the agreement are:
- Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J.;
- Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, N.J.;
- Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, N.J.;
- Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, N.J.;
- Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, N.J.; and
- Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J.
The agreement also includes covered outpatient services provided by SBHCS facilities including the System’s sophisticated Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center in Livingston, N.J., and hospice and home care services.
