The cost of prostate cancer surgery varies widely across the United States, and the variations in what a patient pays bears little on the quality of care they receive, HealthDay News reported. That was the finding of a study recently published in the journal Urology. Costs ranged from $10,000 to $135,000, depending on the hospital where the procedure is being performed. "Prices are not attached to any kind of quality information," said Bradley Erickson, the lead author of the study, which surveyed 100 hospitals throughout the U.S. Of those facilities, 30 could not offer a price at all.
