ACOs taking hold in California for cost savings

California has been a pioneer in HMOs and other now-commonplace healthcare initiatives. Now, it is leading the way in the formation of accountable care organizations (ACOs), according to a FierceHealthcare article. Blue Shield of California and Anthem Blue Cross of California have teamed with a variety of hospitals and medical groups throughout the state in order to create ACOs, cutting hospitalizations and saving money.
